InsSciDE led an interdisciplinary exploration of the history and practice of science diplomacy, its diverse applications, related concepts, and underlying power dynamics. We focused on Heritage, Health, Security, Environment and Space, as well as on cross-cutting contributions of science academies and networks of science diplomats to addressing global challenges.
InsSciDE is a founding member of the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance. Alongside our Zenodo case studies, strategy and issue papers, further training resources are found at science-diplomacy.eu.
Coordinated by historian Pascal Griset (Sorbonne University, CNRS) the project counted 15 consortium partners across Europe: institutions of higher education, international relations strategy, and diplomatic training, as well as UNESCO. InsSciDE members represent the disciplines of history, international relations, science and technology studies, sociology, and public communication.
InsSciDE received funding under the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme (grant agreement n° 770523, 2017-2022). insscide.eu @insscide_eu
InsSciDE publishes on Zenodo more than two dozen case studies of science diplomacy, illuminating its diverse actors and complex processes, the varying interests at stake and its lengthy history. Designed for individual or group study and reflection, the cases are suitable for readers of all backgrounds.
Other outputs include materials from InsSciDE's pilot Warsaw Science Diplomacy School, the strategy report 'Leveraging Science Diplomacy in an Era of Geo-Economic Rivalry', and a series of issue papers. Many more items can be found at science-diplomacy.eu, the site of the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance we formed with our sister projects S4D4C and EL-CSID.
