The Ukraine Clinical Research Support Initiative (UCRSI) is founded by scientists, clinical trial researchers from academia and industry, and ethicists who came together following the outbreak of war in Ukraine to provide a situational analysis of clinical trials in Ukraine and the region. Their work develops a structured response to the needs of research participants and the continuity of research in this situation of destruction, disruption, and displacement. The following activities are being pursued:
- development of a structure ongoing situational analysis of the current clinical trials in Ukraine;
- establishment of reliable communication and information channels;
- provision of support information for displaced clinical trial participants, personnel, and scholars;
- development of specific guidance for addressing clinical trials during and following wartime: Good Clinical Practice Guidance; Ethics Review Guidance; and
- planning for the reconstruction of Ukraine’s and the region’s clinical trial infrastructure following the ending of the war.
