Cancer immunology research has demonstrated that immunization with homologous xenogeneic proteins (such as vaccines contaminated with animal proteins that resemble human proteins) results in autoimmunity. Immunotoxicology experts have recommended the use of bioinformatics and autoimmune serology to study the safety of vaccine antigens to assess the risk of autoimmunity. No such safety studies have been performed for Shingrix.</p></subfield>
