Protocol to reconstruct the Atlantic climate of the 20th century

Description

The reconstruction of the AMOC nudging SST and SSS have proved successful in a perfect model framework in the IPSL coupled climate model. In the historical framework, the only SSS record based purely on observations in 1896-2013 covers only the North and tropical Atlantic (Friedman et al. 2017). This record has also very coarse spatial and temporal resolutions. A strategy to best use these data has been successfully developed in a perfect model framework, giving confidence in the protocol already used as initial conditions for the DCPP experiments with IPSL-CM6 and delivered as a milestone in Blue Action WP2.
