Ivermectin for Covid-19

  • 1. Politecnico di Torino

Description

Discussion of scholar papers published on Ivermectin and of some news that we can find about its use for Covid-19.  A list of clinical trials is also given. The discussion was made in a series of versions from 14 June to 16 July 2020.  For what concerns scholar papers, we report among them a preprint posted on 10 June in MedRχiv,  which concludes that Ivermectin was associated with lower mortality during treatment of Covid-19.  We report also the preprint, posted on 8 July in MedRχiv too, showing the result of a clinical trial. This preprint tells, in its conclusions that add-on use of Ivermectin is giving better results when compared to controls, in particular a significant shorter hospital stay. From news, we consider in particular the case of Iquitos,  capital city of the Loreto Region in Peru, where, by May 25, Covid-19 cases and deaths had dropped notably, as reported on the web. The formulation of ivermectin used in Peru is also discussed, in particular that of the oral solution disclosed by the Peruvian Government.

Notes

Before reading this work, please consider that I am not a physician. I do not suggest the use of ivermectin. I am not touting this drug. This analysis of publications and news about ivermectin is made in the framework of a wider investigation about information concerning drugs used for Covid-19.
