Software for Simulating Lunar Surface Hydration Measurements for Multispectral Lidar at 3 µm
Description
This project includes the MATLAB scripts and spectra files associated with the simulations described in "Simulated Lunar Surface Hydration Measurements using Multispectral Lidar at 3 µm" by Cremons and Honniball (2022) in Earth and Space Science https://doi.org/10.1029/2022EA002277
These scripts were created using MATLAB 2021a and were not tested on other versions.
Our goal was to simulate lunar spectra in the 1 to 4 micron wavelength range with a controllable hydration signature to determine if a lidar measuring at limited laser wavelengths could constrain the total water abundance accurately and precisely. We developed this code to both simulate lunar spectra using laboratory endmember spectra and also to perform the lidar retrieval using a non-negative least squares algorithm.
