openEO is a scientific project, developing standardised and interoperable communication tools between cloud Earth Observation (EO) data service providers and front-end analysis applications, based on Python, R, and JavaScript process graphs. The process graphs are defined as OpenAPI 3.0 JSON files, which are transferred to the service provider's back-end and executed as batch jobs or lazy evaluated jobs. The processes reflect the whole life cycle of EO data and suit several well-defined use cases. Being an open source project, openEO is strongly based on the input of external users – end-users, SMEs and service providers. The developed source code is available on GitHub (https://github.com/Open-EO) to gain direct feedback from the user community. More details can be found at http://openeo.org and on Twitter (@open_EO, #openeo).
openEO has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 776242.
