RadioNet is a consortium of leading institutions in Europe, Republic of Korea and South Africa, integrating at European level world-class infrastructures for research in radio astronomy. RadioNet fosters a sustainable research environment. RadioNet leverages the capabilities of its partners on European scale. RadioNet is a project funded in the framework of the European Horizon 2020 program (Integrating Activities for Advanced Communities). In fact, RadioNet is widely regarded to represent the interests of radio astronomy in Europe.

RadioNet WP6 Joint Research Activity (JRA) BRoad bAND EVN (BRAND EVN) will develop and build a prototype broad-band digital receiver, which will cover a frequency range from 1.5 GHz to 15.5 GHz. The BRAND receiver when deployed at a majority of EVN telescopes will catapult EVN to new levels of performance not achievable with any other astronomical VLBI network. The BRAND receiver might even become the next generation VGOS receiver due to its superior sensitivity, its wider bandwidth, and the possibility to choose parts of the spectrum still uncontaminated by RFI.
